UK Regulator Cuts Mobile Termination Rates

Ofcom announced reductions in mobile termination rates (MTRs), the wholesale charges mobile operators make to other operators to connect calls to their networks. The new rates will apply from 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2015 and will result in an 80% decrease in MTRs. BMI welcomes the move to reduce MTRs as we expect it to lower prices without impacting substantially on investment levels in the UK telecoms sector.
