Operators Need To Weigh Up Demands
February 2011 | Regulatory DevelopmentSpain hopes to raise between EUR1.5-2bn in the proposed sale of 310MHz of spectrum in various bands. The announcement was made as part of a government decision to sell off assets in an attempt to reassure the markets over the possibility of a bailout. The price tag put on the spectrum, however, has been deemed 'overly optimistic' by sources close to the major operators in the market, although they have welcomed the positive steps made towards reassigning spectrum. Despite the reaction from the operators, BMI believes additional spectrum will be highly sought after as networks cope with the ever growing strain of mobile data traffic._x000d_
