Local Companies Benefit From PNBL

Four Brazilian companies are reportedly the likely winners of BRL710mn (US$426mn) in contracts for the Plano Telebrás Nacional de Banda Larga (PNBL - National Broadband Plan). The contracts are to be awarded by, the revived former fixed-line incumbent. While BMI welcomes the opportunity for local companies to provide the infrastructure for the PNBL, we believe there is room for larger international vendors to help provide low-cost services that will help enable the PNBL offer low prices.
