Rivals Increase Investment In Mexico As Competition Heats Up

Cable operators in Mexico are set to invest about 27% more in 2011 than 2010 according to local newspaper El Financiero. As the main competitors to incumbent Telmex, the decision to increase investment is unsurprising as the operator looks increasingly determined to offer pay-TV services. The decision to increase investment to about US$700mn in 2011 is positive for the market in BMI's opinion, as competition will have a positive impact on the range of services on offer.
