PNBL Could Have Long Term Negative Impact

About 550 internet service providers (ISPs) are reportedly interested in connecting with the new network that will be launched by former telecoms incumbent Telebrás. The state-owned operator has been revived by the Brazilian government as part of its National Broadband Plan (Plano Nacional de Banda Larga - PNBL). However, the implementation of the PNBL has been delayed a further four months until April 2011 because of 'bureaucratic reasons'. The interest demonstrated by ISPs highlights the potential in Brazil's broadband market, in BMI's opinion.
