Ofcom: LTE Unlikely To Arrive Until 2014
November 2010 | Industry NewsOfcom, the UK electronic communications and broadcasting regulator, has outlined a proposed timeframe for the introduction of 4G mobile telecoms services. The regulator does not expect to complete the process of releasing suitable spectrum and allocating it to industry players until the end of 2013. This means the UK's first commercial services based on LTE technology would not come on stream until late 2014 at the earliest, long after many other European companies would have embarked on their LTE launches.
