The merger between Vimpelcom Ltd and Weather Investments SpA announced on October 4 2010 has been described in many quarters as the most significant consolidation yet in the telecoms industry in 2010. All parties involved have embarked on a gruelling schedule to secure all regulatory and shareholder approvals necessary for the completion of the transaction by Q111.
