BMI Unconvinced By Alternative Broadband Plan
August 2010 | Regulatory DevelopmentDetails of an alternative to Australia's planned National Broadband Network (NBN) have been released by the centre-right opposition Coalition. If elected in the forthcoming general elections, the Coalition, which comprises the Liberal Party of Australia and the National Party of Australia, proposes spending up to AUD6.25bn (US$ 5.61bn) of public and private funding on broadband infrastructure upgrades, less than the AUD43bn (US$38.59) estimated for the Australian Labor Party's NBN.
