UNE-EPM Signals Commitment To LTE

Colombian municipal telecommunications operator UNE-EPM has unveiled plans to begin offering mobile broadband services in four major metropolitan markets during the second half of 2011. The company has yet to select an infrastructure provider for this ambitious project, which will likely give the Colombian mobile market its biggest shake-up in some time, but it is determined to use technology based on the 4G LTE standard. This statement of intent confirms BMI's view that UNE-EPM is clearly setting its sights on Colombia's growing mobile data services market.
