China Mobile And Xinhua To Cooperate on New Search

China's Xinhua news agency and China Mobile, the country's largest mobile operator, announced on August 12 2010 that they would establish an internet search engine joint venture (JV). Besides developing a search engine, the JV would pursue developments in other business areas such as the internet, print media and advertising. BMI believes that China Mobile and Xinhua are seeking to exploit growth opportunities in China's mobile and internet markets, but the JV is likely to have little initial impact on existing players which have considerable expertise and market share.
