NPT Renews Telenor's SMP Status For 'Market 1'

August 2010 | Company Brief

News: Norwegian Regulator the Norwegian Post and Telecoms Regulatory Authority (NPT) has renewed the significant market power (SMP) status of local incumbent telecoms operator Telenor's for 'Market 1', reports TeleGeography. The NPT highlighted that the SMP status was renewed as the operator still controls over 70% of the fixed-line subscriptions in the country. The SMP classification will require Telenor to allow alternative operators to resell its fixed-line services at a regulated cost. However, the regulator reduced the price ceiling for switching services provider by NOK 7 (US$1.14) to NOK43 (US$6.99).
