Fast Growing Telecoms Market Pushing Honduras Forward

Data from the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH) indicate that the telecoms market grew by 6% in the first four months of the year, compared with 4% in the same period of 2009. The addition of competition has been widely cited as the cause behind the continued fast growth, with the BCH forecasting that the sector will be the fastest growing industry in the Honduran economy. The mobile market has been the main focus of this growth, and will remain so for some time to come, but BMI expects that expanding broadband services will be an increasingly important growth driver.
