Softbank Invests In Zynga, Plans Asian Mobile Gaming Expansion

Japan's Softbank Corporation is reported to be close to making a JPY13.5bn (US$147mn) investment in US-based social gaming developer Zynga Game Network as part of a broader plan to expand into the online services and gaming markets in Asia and further afield. With the appetite for online social gaming at an all-time high in Japan and neighbouring markets such as China and India, BMI believes SoftBank is in an excellent position to capitalise on its position as the exclusive provider of Apple iPhones and App Store applications/content in Japan via its SoftBank Mobile network operator unit.
