Is Buying Out Vodafone A Good Idea For TE?

The news in late May 2010 that Telecom Egypt (TE) was looking into buying Vodafone out of the two operators' joint venture mobile network, Vodafone Egypt, has led BMI to look more closely at TE, and consider if this would indeed be the best move for the company. TE is contending with a fixed-line subscriber base that, although resisting the global trend of falling subscriber numbers for some time, began to decline in early 2009, and a growing mobile broadband market that is taking business away from its main growth area of ADSL.
