CEO's Departure Could Have Far Reaching Consequences For Zain

The unexpected and largely unexplained resignation of Zain's CEO, Saad al-Barrak, has been well documented in the media. On February 4 2010 it was confirmed that the international mobile operator's board of directors had accepted his resignation. Although it is not possible to know what goes on behind closed doors, BMI feels pretty confident that Zain will be heading in a new direction, and even more confident that rival companies keen to acquire some of Zain's assets will come forward, with informal offers for bits and pieces of Zain's African assets starting to appear.
