Reduction In MTRs Now In Doubt

Proposed cuts in mobile termination rates (MTR) are now in doubt, according to Business Day. The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), the telecoms regulator, has said that it will not support the proposal, as it sees it as a dilution of its regulatory power. BMI is not optimistic that ICASA will back down, even partly, leaving the prospect of a rate cut much further off than it was.
