TeliaSonera Increases Stake In Uzbek Operator

Sweden's TeliaSonera announced that it has increased its stake in Uzbek mobile operator Coscom to 94% from 74%. The company acquired 20% of the shares from Takilant, its partner in TeliaSonera Uzbek Telecom Holding, paying around SEK1.550bn (US$215mn) for the shares. The move is part of TeliaSonera's strategy to increase its ownership in its units and marks a good step for both the Uzbek telecoms market and TeliaSonera.
