Increased Tax On Mobile Calls

Jordan is increasing taxes on mobile phone calls. As part of its State Budget Law for 2010, the Jordanian government has voted to increase a special tax already levied on calls from 4% to 8%. It is part of a campaign to cut spending add increase revenues in order to cut the deficit. BMI expects this to be fairly unpopular among mobile companies and consumers, who will inevitably see a rise in call prices.
