Telefónica Interested In ETB

Spanish telecoms operator Telefónica is understood to be interested in bidding for a stake in Colombian-owned Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogotá (ETB). Telefónica's Alfonso Gómez Palacio, president of the company's operations in Colombia, told La Republica that ETB was one of the company's targets for 2010. Telefónica already owns a 52.03% stake in Colombian incumbent Telefónica Telecom . Further, the operator is rumoured to be considering a bid for municipal operator Emcali, too.
