Internet Growth Unlikely Anytime Soon

Cuban Vice Minister of Communications and IT Ramón Linares announced that Cuba's international connectivity increased 10% in December 2009. This is an impressive increase in a country that has little international connectivity. The US trade embargo on Cuba has prevented undersea cabling from reaching the Caribbean island. However, an agreement with Venezuela should see this rectified in 2011 with the country's first international submarine cable
