Brazilians have taken well to 3G services, according to regulatory data, with 7.9mn connections over a 3G network at the end of October 2009. Growth has been swift with services having been on offer for around two years. However, research from local consultancy Teleco highlights the difference between subscribers actively using services available over 3G networks and owning a 3G-enabled handset.
