BSNL First With Indian Mobile WiMAX

Indian incumbent operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has launched a commercial mobile WiMAX service, making it the first operator in the country to do so. The company, which is the owner of the largest fixed-line and broadband network in India and which has grown quickly to become the country's third largest mobile network operator, is seeking to extend its reach into rural and economically deprived areas of India ahead of its rivals in the mobile and fixed-line camps with an attractively priced and widely available service.
