New Plan Approved For Conversion Of Military Frequencies For 3G
November 2009 | Industry BriefNews: According to Interfax-Ukraine, the head of the National Communications Regulation Commission (NCRC), Serhiy Kolobov, has announced that the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers passed a new resolution to allocate spectrum for commercial 3G mobile services. At present, the 2.1GHz UMTS band wireless frequencies are held by the Ukrainian defence ministry. The new resolution seeks to convert the frequencies to provide 3G services by fulfilling certain conditions put forth by the defence ministry. The ministry has sought UAH2.5bn (US$311mn) to finance the conversion.
