3G Licensing Delays Rumble On As Operators Make Early Moves

Back-and-forth movements in the long-delayed 3G licensing process in Thailand have made it uncertain whether competitive next generation wireless services will be launched before the end of 2010 after all. While incumbent fixed and mobile operator TOT has announced 3G MVNO partnerships with five value-added service providers, local reports suggest that the government's Ministry of Finance is unhappy with TOT's proposed business plan for the offering. A rethink could yet force TOT - the sole authorised 3G provider - to defer a commercial launch indefinitely.
