BMI View: MNP Could Prove Much Needed Subscriber Boost

The significant decline in Thailand's net additions for Q109 compared to Q408 were blamed on the economic downturn, combined with Hutchison Telecom discounting inactive subscribers. This saw the mobile market report 814,000 new subscribers in Q109, compared to 2.062mn net additions in Q408, marking a 60.5% quarter-on-quarter decline. By the end of March 2009, there were a total of 62.633mn subscribers.
