GNCC To Auction Wireless Spectrum Licence
September 2009 | Industry BriefNews: According to the Georgian Business Week, telecoms regulator the Georgian National Communications Commission (GNCC) has announced that it will auction licences for wireless spectrum in the GSM-1800 and IMT2000 frequencies. The decision to auction spectrum came after Canadian telecoms operator DataWave announced its intention to enter Georgia's telecoms market. The initial price of the licence for GSM-1800 and INT2000 will be GEL7.35mn (US$4.37mn) and GEL12.74mn (US$7.57mn), respectively. The auction is scheduled on October 23 2009.
