EU To Use Public Funds For Broadband Expansion

The European Commission (EC) has provided guidelines on how public funds worth EUR300bn could be used to close the digital divide relating to high-speed broadband networks. Under the rules, member states will be offered the opportunity to subsidise the provision of internet access in areas where there is limited or no broadband infrastructure. This will largely affect rural areas.
