Development Of Public Broadband Network Gathers Pace
September 2009 | Regulatory DevelopmentBrazil's president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, presided over a meeting of several ministers and regulators this week regarding the country's National Broadband Plan (PNBL - Plano Nacional de Banda Larga). The overarching theme was the proposal for the creation of a public broadband network with several agencies and a number of technologies considered in order to create this. The government has already subsidised several projects in rural towns to bring public institutions online.
