Cash Offers For T-Mobile

It has been widely reported in the UK media that both O2 and Vodafone have made cash bids for T-Mobile's UK unit, which has been surrounded by sale rumours for some months. The UK's first- and second-ranked mobile operators are believed to have made offers of around GBP3.5bn (US$5.34), apparently lower than the cash bids that Deutsche Telekom had been expecting for its UK unit. The Guardian newspaper is reporting that T-Mobile would prefer to see a share-swap based merger with France Télécom's Orange network go ahead.
