Regulator Blocks Cable Project Across Cambodia
August 2009 | Industry NewsAccording to Cameroonian newspaper Le Messenger, MTN Cameroon has been ordered by the regulator to halt construction of its fibre-optic cable project in Douala and pay accompanying fines. The decision comes as a supposed resolution to an ongoing dispute between MTN and state-owned incumbent Camtel over the project, stemming from the fact that Camtel claims rights to 'exclusive responsibility for the installation and management of optical fibre for intercity and urban areas'.
