The Mauritius statistics office has confirmed that the island nation saw mobile subscriber numbers reach above 1mn by the end of 2008, reports cellular-news. According to the government's calculations, there were 1,033,300 mobile subscribers at the end of 2008. This is very slightly higher than the figure of 1.02mn that BMI established based on the subscriber figures published by the principle shareholders of Mauritius' two mobile operators.
