Movilnet Reveals 3G Plans

Venezuela's Movilnet, the market leader, has announced a pilot launch of 80 UMTS/HSDPA base stations for its 3G roll out. The company, part of state-owned CANTV, intends to deploy 350 base stations by the end of 2009 and is expected to launch commercially in Caracas in the fourth quarter of the year. The trials are being undertaken by staff in the Caracas fire department, according to Entorno Inteligente.
