On July 30 2009, Turkey's mobile operators launched the country's first 3G services. Market leader Turkcell marked the launch with a wide range of new services, tariffs and products designed to take advantage of all aspects of the potential 3G market. At launch, Turkcell's CEO said that the company had achieved 3G coverage of 60% of Turkey's population within 90 days of receiving its licence, but that it would also be interested in potential infrastructure-sharing agreements with the other operators in order to reduce 3G network costs and bring the service to a wider audience in a shorter space of time.
