Telefónica And Nokia Partner To Provide Rural Education Services

Spain-based operator Telefónica has announced an agreement with Finland's Nokia to bring educational services to remote schools in Latin America. The initiative is based on two existing programmes run by Telefónica in Latin America and Spain called Proniño and Educared. Nokia will provide mobile software that will enable access to a variety of educational tools. Increasingly, bridging the digital divide is an important focus for governments in countries where people living in rural communities still make up a high percentage of the total population.
