Bakcell's EDGE Upgrade To Boost Competitiveness

Azerbaijani mobile operator Bakcell has announced the launch of its EDGE upgrade, which was provided by equipment manufacturer Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN). The operator, the second largest in the country, announced the EDGE upgrade in February as part of a GSM network expansion contract. According to Cellular-News, Bakcell had 950,000 subscribers at the end of September 2009, accounting for a 19% share of the country's mobile market.
