StarHub Wins Singapore NBN Contract, Beating M1
April 2009 | Contract NewsSingaporean telecoms operator StarHub has been awarded a tender to build and operate a wholesale next generation broadband network (NBN) at a cost of SGD250mn (US$166mn) by regulatory body Infocomm Development Authority (IDA). This forms the second layer above the basic fibre infrastructure to be built by a separate network company, NetCo. Won by the OpenNet Consortium , consisting of Singapore Telecommunications, Singapore Press Holdings, SP Telecommunications and Axia in September 2008, the government is paying OpenNet around SGD750mn (US$498mn).
