Companies Hopeful For Broadband Growth
March 2009 | Industry NewsA group of South African firms all having an interest in the improvement of internet services in the country are compiling a strategy report to present to the new telecom minister, reports Business Day. Following the upcoming elections on April 22 2009, a new telecom minister is expected to be appointed to replace incumbent Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri, and there are widespread hopes that the new candidate will adopt a more liberalising policy stance than Matsepe-Casaburri, who has worked hard to oppose opening South Africa's telecom market.
