Iranian New Year will be celebrated on March 20 2009, and in a special end of year press conference in the run up to this celebration, which also marked the 30th anniversary of the Islamic revolution, the managing director of MCI, Iran's leading mobile operator, revealed details of the company's progress in the past 12 months, as well as plans for the future, reports Iran Daily. Most notably, MCI outlined plans to upgrade its network to 3G and to begin offering services over this platform within two years. This 3G schedule could certainly step on newly licensed Etisalat's toes, and even call into question some conditions of the new licence.
