i-Cable Steps Up Competition

Hong Kong's second-ranked broadband operator i-Cable has ramped up competition against market leader PCCW by offering free broadband for six months as part of its bundled services. With less than a quarter of PCCW's market share, i-Cable is by far the lesser player in a market which in November 2008 had 1.95mn connections, according to regulatory data. With a household penetration rate of almost 78%, growth potential is vastly reduced.
