Movistar Offers Mobile TV Handset

Peru's Movistar, which is owned by Spain's Telefónica, has launched a mobile handset that allows users to watch TV from Telegent Systems. The operator provides a handset from Chinese vendor ZTE that accesses Telegent's mobile TV features as well as a live TV option. The handset is available for PEN499 (US$154) over the prepay platform or PEN49-349 for postpaid plans. Movistar's director of strategic planning, Gustavo Kitazono, said the handset had been well received by Peruvian customers and interest in the unit had been high.
