Jordan Telecom Group Reports Good News

The Jordan Telecom Group (JTG) has reported that its overall customer base rose to 2.52mn by the end of 2008, a 3.4% increase from the end of 2007. The biggest rise was in the broadband segment, where subscriber numbers were at 102,200 at the end of 2008, reaching six figures for the first time and representing 55% year-on-year (y-o-y) growth. Mobile subscriber numbers swelled by 2.6% y-o-y to reach 1.76mn. Perhaps most internestingly, JTG's fixed-line subscriber base, which had been experiencing a worryingly rapid decline, also increased, to 663,400 at the end of 2008, a 0.5% y-o-y rise.
