Egyptian Operators To Discuss Interconnection

August 2008 | Industry News

Egypt's National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is seeking to resolve the issue of interconnection between the country's three mobile service providers, Mobinil, Vodafone Egypt and Etisalat Misr, before Ramadan in September this year. The discussions will also involve fixed-line incumbent operator Telecom Egypt. The debate over interconnection charges has been scheduled by the NTRA to end ahead of auctioning a second fixed-line licence on September 18 2008. Interconnection agreements between internet service providers and Telecom Egypt have already been met for international bandwidth STM-4 at US$20,000, following approval by NTRA board members on April 20 2008.
