Vodacom Upping 3G Coverage To Gain Market Share

Vodacom, South Africa's leading mobile operator by customer numbers, has announced expansions to its 3G HSDPA coverage. 3G coverage has generally been concentrated in urban areas, and Vodacom is focusing on spreading the service to more towns and major roads in the Western and Northern Cape. Vodacom representatives have claimed that no other operator can match its coverage in these areas. Since launching 3G services in December 2004, Vodacom's network expansion has continued, with HSDPA services launched in March 2006.
