Libya Makes A Bid For African Telecoms Domination

Libyan-owned LapGreen Networks is planning to establish the biggest telecoms company with a single network in Africa, reports AllAfrica. The company's managing director has apparently said that by 2010/11 LapGreen will have a unified network reaching from East to West Africa. LapGreen currently has operations in Uganda, Togo, Niger, Rwanda, Côte d'Ivoire and Gabon. However, with operations in only six, fairly scattered, countries, LapGreen is a long way from realising its dream of a single telecoms network spanning the breadth of the continent, with other operators much further along this road.
