Colombia Sees Final 3G Launch

Colombia has seen its third 3G launch in 2008, putting it in the same league as Argentina and Chile as one of the most technologically advanced mobile markets in Latin America. Second-ranked Movistar launched its 3.5G network in the cities of Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Bucaramanga and Cúcuta. The launch closely follows that of third-ranked Tigo, which began offering services at the end of October, yet comes 10 months after the market leader, Comcel, launched its 3G network.
