Asiacell Set To Double Subscriber Base

November 2008 | Company News Alert

Iraq's second-ranked mobile operator, Asiacell, has revealed that by February 2009 it expects to have doubled its subscriber base on a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis. The company claims to have had 3.6mn subscribers in February 2008, and has now passed the 6mn mark, according to Cellular News. That would mean that since the end of February the company has averaged 300,000 net additions a month, and if it carries on at the same pace for the next four months, it should indeed have reached 7.2mn by the end of February 2009.
