StarHub To Launch Asia's First 5.6Mbps HSPA Uplink

StarHub, the Singapore-based mobile operator plans to upgrade its HSPA network, tripling its existing uplink speed of 1.9Mbps to 5.76Mbps before the end of 2008. The upgrade to its network, occurring on a national basis, will see StarHub become the first operator in the region to offer such high speeds of 5.76Mbps. Mobile broadband downlink speeds are also being raised to 21Mbps, roughly 1.5 times current speeds, with HSPA Plus (HSPA+) being deployed over its HSPA network by Q209. In support of the work being carried out, StarHub plans to expand its network by deploying a further 3,500 base stations to offer additional capacity.
