Ericsson Ties Up With ST For Chip Design

The world's largest network manufacturer, Sweden's Ericsson, has created a joint venture (JV) with Switzerland's STMicroelectronics (ST) to combine certain mobile communications units. ST is the largest chipmaker in Europe and will collaborate with Ericsson on research and design for chips and networks. The aim of the JV is to enable the two companies to produce faster mobile applications to take advantage of the growing demand for wireless internet and data-heavy services.
