Mobile Privatisation Across Lebanon Expected Soon
August 2008 | Industry NewsLebanon's parliament has approved the new 'national unit' cabinet line-up, according to Middle East Business Intelligence (MEED). The announcement is expected to see the privatisation of the country's two mobile networks finalised, following repeated delays since February 2008, on account of political deadlock. According to MEED, the Lebanese Ministry of Telecommunications had originally announced that the sale of controlling stakes in GSM mobile operators MIC1 and MIC2 would not take place until after government elections in May 2009.
