Romtelecom To See Stake Floated In 2009
August 2008 | Privatisation AlertRomania's government intends to float a minority stake in incumbent Romtelecom in 2009, it has been announced. Telecoms minister Karoly Borbely stated earlier in 2008 that at least 10% would be due by the end of the year. The float has been on the cards since 2006, but a number of issues, including suspicion of commercial espionage and unfavourable market conditions, have delayed the sale of the stake. A consultancy contract to advise on the sale of the stake would be signed within one and a half months, thereby allowing for the sale to take place in 2009.
